You can do almost everything from the keyboard, or mix up keyboard and mouse. It supports tiling, stacking, tabs, virtual desktops, and multiple monitors. The i3 tiling window manager is a nice modern tiling window manager for GNU/Linux and BSD operating systems. ![]() I know, Windows 3.1 wasn’t very good for much actual work, but it did stacking and tiling windows rather nicely. If i3 can be a desktop replacement (in case in combination with some other standalone applications) that would be an easier approach.I’ve been a fan of tiling window managers ever since Windows 3.1. So it is not too trivial to implement a reasonable well working integration with all provided desktops. So while in theory it should be possible to usw i3 on most desktops, I already read about incompatibilities with default desktop panels and you'll in most cases have two windows managers installed then.
